Kristine L. Capell is a Partner at Summers Levine Lipsic & Hersh, LLP, where she is well-known for calmly guiding her clients through difficult family law issues including prenuptial agreements, complex property valuation and division, spousal support and child support determinations, Post-Judgment modification actions, and contested custody disputes.
After almost two decades of practicing family law, Kristine has ample experience to educate her clients about the divorce process. She believes that clients are an integral part of the team and their participation can have a significant influence on the direction and outcome of their case. She ensures that her clients fully understand all aspects of their case as it progresses. While settlement is generally preferred in most cases, as a skilled litigator, Ms. Capell is a skilled litigator who is fully prepared to go to court if a settlement is not possible.
Ms. Capell recognizes that going through a divorce is one of the most difficult and challenging periods of anyone’s life. That is why she works closely with her clients to help them recognize their own power to navigate to the next stage of their lives. She emphasizes a personalized approach to her practice, understanding that there is no such thing as “one size fits all” in family law.
Ms. Capell has been named a Southern California “Rising Star” by Law & Politics Media, Inc., and Los Angeles magazine in 2012, 2019, and 2020. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University (2003) and her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law (2006) and is licensed to practice law in Illinois (2007), California (2009), and New York (2016). In 2023, Ms. Capell was approved by the State Bar of California as a certified Family Law Specialist.
Before joining Summers Levine Lipsic & Hersh, LLP, Kristine was a Partner at Summers Levine, LLP, an associate at the Los Angeles firm, Freid and Goldsman, APLC, and an associate at Schiller DuCanto and Fleck, LLP, in Chicago, Illinois. She is a member of the Family Law Sections of the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Bar Associations.
As a non-native Angeleno, Kristine enjoys spending her free time exploring the wonderful cultural offerings and delicious cuisines of the Los Angeles area. She is actively involved in her local community of Culver City. Kristine serves as a board member of the PTA and booster clubs at her children’s schools and is a board member of the Sisterhood at Temple Akiba of Culver City.
